Frequently Asked Questions
Q- Should I have my carpet steam cleaned or dry cleaned?
A- Dry cleaning uses way less water than steam cleaning. It poses no threat of rot, mildew, shrinkage or floor damage. Dry cleaning uses 90% less moisture than steam cleaning systems.
Q- Why Chem-Dry?
A- Chem-Dry´s unique carbonated cleaner is based on bi-carb soda and produces millions of tiny bubbles that explode the dirt from the fibre. There is no chemical or soaps used at all and no residue left on your carpet that will lead to rapid resoiling.
Q- If I am going to pay for a quality carpet cleaner, what should I recieve?
A- You should recieve:
- Prevacuum on all dry cleaning
- All areas pre sprayed with non-toxic solution to loosen all heavily soiled areas
- Agitation with nylon brush to help disolve soils
- Removal of all soils
- Basic spot and stain remover
- Carpet grooming
Q- How often should I have my carpet cleaned?
A- Australian standards recommend every 12 months. Carpet is like a car, when cleaned and maintained correctly you will extend the life of the carpet. Your carpet will not be damaged if cleaned correctly and on a regular basis.
Q- How soon can I walk on my carpets after cleaning?
A- Chem-Dry uses 2 different methods to clean carpets, depending on the level of soiling (ie. badly maintained rental property).
Method A) is a dry clean method that allows you to walk on your carpet immediately and carpet in most cases will be totally dry in 1 hour.
Method B) is an extraction method that takes approximately 2-4 hours and is used on very heavily soiled carpets. Drying times are approximate only as they can be affected by things like very cold weather and high humidity. The use of air conditioning and reverse cycle heating and/or ceiling fans greatly decrease drying times.
Q- What stains will be removed when I have my carpets cleaned?
A- A spot is a substance that is adhered to the carpet fibre, but has not become set. A stain is more advanced and may become set. Your Chem-Dry professional will remove all spots (food, grease, mud etc). Stains are more difficult to remove than spots and the outcome of their removal can be affected by things such as:
- What somebody has previously tried to remove it with
- Type of carpet fibre
- How old, etc
Your Chem-Dry technician will discuss with you the procedures needed to possibly remove the stain; a quote on the process and the likelihood of the stain being removed. On most occasions, this is not required as 90% of marks are removed in the cleaning process.
Q- What guarantee does Chem-Dry Carpet Solutions provide?
A- Chem-Dry will guarantee to clean to Australian Standards 1995-3775. We do not guarantee to remove permanent stains. Any claims will only be accepted up to 7 days from initial clean.
